In response to the growing demand for robust tires due to the surge in eMTBs and the continuous evolution of enduro and downhill riding, WTB has launched its toughest tires yet featuring the new SG1 casing. Designed to withstand increased wear and tear, the SG1 casing is positioned as the strongest and most durable option ever released by WTB.
Key Features of SG1 Casing:

- Enhanced Protection: The SG1 casing integrates additional layers of protection under the tread and in the sidewalls to combat thorns or sharp rocks, enhancing puncture resistance significantly.
- IP+ Technology: WTB introduces the innovative IP+ technology, tripling the height of the Inner Peace layer found in the existing Tough casings. This enhancement offers added sidewall and bead protection without compromising tread compliance.
- Bead/Sidewall Protection: The IP+ layer provides 15mms of extra protection to the bead/sidewall, enabling riders to run lower tire pressures for improved traction and comfort without compromising stability in cornering or under compression.
Upgraded Rubber Compounds:

- High Grip and Fast Rolling Compounds: WTB has refined both High Grip and Fast Rolling compounds to deliver superior longevity, puncture resistance, and wet weather traction. These compounds feature adjusted ratios of natural and synthetic rubbers, ensuring increased wet traction without compromising overall tire performance.

Model Lineup:

- Judge and Verdict Tires: The Verdict, optimized as a front tire, offers a 2.5” width ideal for rim widths between 25-35mm. It excels in a variety of terrains and conditions, boasting impressive ratings for grip and durability. On the other hand, the Judge, designed as a rear tire, comes in a 2.4” width and also shines across different surfaces and weather conditions.
Ride Impressions:

- Grip and Toughness: Testers found the SG1 tires to offer exceptional grip across various trail surfaces and remarkable sidewall durability. Despite their weight affecting climbing performance on non-electric bikes, the tires excelled in providing traction, toughness, and protection.
- Descend with Confidence: Riders experienced superior traction, especially on roots and rocks, even in wet conditions. The tires showcased sturdy sidewalls that resisted impacts effectively, offering stability and robust performance during downhill rides.
WTB Tire Sealant and Max-Flow Valves:

- Tubeless Sealant: WTB’s tubeless tire sealant, utilized for setting up the SG1 tires, ensures puncture sealing up to 6mm, longevity, and functionality in below-freezing temperatures.
- Max-Flow Valves: The Max-Flow tubeless valves provide increased airflow and work seamlessly with tire inserts, offering convenient maintenance features. The valves come with aluminum caps and efficient valve core removal tools.
WTB’s new SG1 tires are now available online and through authorized dealers in Europe and the USA, catering to riders seeking uncompromising durability and performance in their mountain biking endeavors. With their advanced technology and focus on durability, these tires are set to meet the demands of riders tackling challenging terrains with confidence and reliability.
