The Pro’s Closet Reopens Under New Ownership and Management

New Management Takes Charge

The Pro’s Closet, the well-known used gear retailer, made a comeback on Monday with new ownership and familiar management. After closing its doors last month following 18 years of operation, the company has launched a fresh start with the strategic leadership of Justin England and JP Gage, long-time managers dedicated to its revival.

Elshair Companies Steps In

The re-opening follows a successful acquisition by Elshair Companies, a private investment firm that procured TPC’s digital assets, including its trademarks, website, software, and customer database. Elshair, founded by Yassir Elshair 20 years ago, aims to enhance TPC’s operations, drawing on its experience with various e-commerce businesses.

Resumption of Services

England, who served as head of purchasing at TPC for 15 years, is stepping into the role of Chief Revenue Officer, while Gage transitions to Chief Operating Officer. The pair intends to resume the acquisition of used bikes, wheels, and frames through the existing website, theproscloset.com, starting immediately.

Plans for Growth
As part of its future strategy, TPC will focus on refurbishing bikes for resale via its Certified Pre-Owned program. The company is also looking to eventually bring back unique inventory items and its trade-in program with bike shops, working to align itself as a valuable partner rather than a competitor in the marketplace.

Addressing Market Challenges
With the previous company’s financial difficulties in mind, England has indicated that the new TPC will minimize its focus on new, inline products covered by minimum advertised price (MAP) programs. This shift aims to create a clear distinction between TPC services and those offered by retail partners involved in the trade-in initiative.

A Future with Hope
Despite the challenges of a post-pandemic market that significantly impacted inventory values, TPC’s newly appointed management team is optimistic about rebuilding the brand. Plans are in place to lease a warehouse space along Colorado’s Front Range as the company seeks to restore its inventory and continue providing innovative solutions for biking enthusiasts across the nation.
