The Nepal Cycling Association is excited to announce the 19th National MTB Cross Country and 11th Downhill Championship. This thrilling event is set to take place on the 21st and 22nd of June, 2024 (Friday and Saturday) at Jagdol, Gokarna. We invite all athletes and district associations to mark their calendars and prepare for an exhilarating competition.

PREVIOUS YEAR WINNERS
Suraj Rana Magar of the Armed Police Force clinched the title in the men’s category at the 18th National Cross Country Mountain Bike Championship, held at Martyrs Memorial Park in Gokarneshwar Municipality. Suraj completed the challenging 20-kilometer race in 1 hour, 16 minutes, and 44 seconds.

In a competitive field, Nepali Army’s Himal Tamata took the second spot with a time of 1 hour, 20 minutes, and 27 seconds, while Kumar Tamang from Nuwakot finished third, clocking in at 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 9 seconds.
Usha Khanal from Gorkha emerged victorious in the women’s elite category, with Humi Buda Magar from Pyuthan and Indra Kala Nembang from Sunsari taking second and third place, respectively. In the junior category, Nima Sherpa from Udayapur claimed the top position, closely followed by Sanjay Rai and Ashwin Khatri.
In the Men’s Master category, Harka Lama from Sindhupalchowk secured the first place, with Khub Bahadur Mathar and Vinod Dhakal taking the second and third spots. The race distances were set at 20 kilometers for the Men’s Elite category and 16 kilometers for the Women’s Elite, Master, and Junior categories.

In the National Mountain Bike Downhill competition, Rajesh Magar triumphed in the men’s category, completing the course in an impressive 2 minutes and 57 seconds. He was followed by Nirav Shrestha in second place and Prachit Thapa Magar in third. Usha Khanal secured first place in the women’s Downhill category, marking her as a dual champion in both Cross Country and Downhill events, a first in Nepal’s National Mountain Bike history.
The event was inaugurated by Gokarneshwar Municipality’s Mayor, Deepak Rijal, and the awards were presented by Tankalal Ghising, Secretary General of the National Sports Council. The championship was attended by notable figures from the Nepal Cycling Association, including President Gopal Sundar Lal Kakshapati, Vice President Sudip Poudel, and General Secretary Ranjan Rajbhandari, among others.
